Select Yachts and Camper & Nicholsons Host Highly Successful First Annual Grenada Charter Yacht Show at Port Louis Marina, St. George’s, Grenada
Select Yachts, an industry-leader in Yacht Charter, Sales and Management, in conjunction with Camper & Nicholson’s award-winning Port Louis Marina, recently hosted the inaugural Grenada Charter Yacht Show.
According to Ann E. McHorney, CEO & Director of Sales for Select Yachts, the idea for the charter show came in 2015 when she had the opportunity to spend a bit of leisure time on the island of Grenada. She enjoyed first-hand the top-notch facilities at Port Louis Marina while husband, Captain Jackson McHorney, was yacht-sitting there.
They were awed by the gracious hospitality of the islanders, the many attractions and activities, and of course the unsurpassed sailing grounds. Says McHorney, “I was inspired by the genuine warmth of the people, the beauty of the topography and the sophistication of facilities and services. I was determined to shine a spotlight on this enchanting charter region.”
Charter yachts, ranging from a 42’ Lagoon catamaran to an 85’ Petersen performance sloop, crewed by professional captains and chefs, lined the docks at the marina to welcome aboard international charter brokers.
The Show kicked off with a lavish Welcome Party featuring sponsored open bar and gourmet canapés. Dignitaries, including the Guest of Honor, Minister of Tourism, Honorable Modest-Curwen, eloquently addressed the yacht captains and chefs, charter brokers, the many local sponsors, and invited guests.

Other VIPs included Mr. Rudy W Grant, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, and Mrs. Nikoyan Roberts, Manager Nautical Development for the Authority.
Show events included the Culinary Chef Competition. De La Grenade Industries Ltd provided the special ingredient to be used in the recipe, nutmeg jelly. The Broker Tour, which included site inspections of exclusive island resorts, aimed to help promote vacation land segments. Yacht Managers, Central Agents and Captains enjoyed a tour of the island’s extensive marine facilities. A charitable visit to the Belair Children’s Home created special memories for those who participated.
The Grenada Charter Yacht Show was deemed an overwhelming success by all attendees. Plans for the 2017 show are already underway. Show dates are June 16-19. Enjoy 10% discount for early registration. Expectations are for a large increase in participation given the success of this inaugural show.
