Yacht Description

Emily Morgan, named after the Yellow Rose of Texas, is a classic Bowman 57 sailing yacht. She was designed by Holman and Pye, who later designed many Oysters, and built by Southampton Boat Services in Hampshire, UK. The spacious cockpit is perfect for sipping a cold sun downer whilst watching the sunset. It has an opening table for magical lunches and dinners under the stars. The large bimini fends off the fiercest midday sun.Sun lovers aren't forgotten, there's plenty of comfy cushioned deck space for soaking up the sun when we reach the anchorage, just don't forget to lash on the factor 30! Sail handling is managed with furling head sails, main sail with lazy jacks, a mizzen sail aft as well as a spinnaker and mizzen staysail when speed is of the essence. Emily Morgan is easy to handle with her flexible rig. Guests can comfortably sit down to dinner either in the generous cockpit or the light and airy saloon. The saloon is spacious with seating around the table and armchairs to relax in. For entertainment Emily Morgan has a sound system complemented by a comprehensive music library, a selection of games and a carefully chosen reading library.

Crew Profile

Your hosts aboard Emily Morgan are husband and wife team Anna and Bones Black

Both Anna and Bones have sailed from a very young age. Anna's first sailing experience was at 18 months old. Bones cut his teeth in the notorious Bristol Channel. They are both experienced sailing instructors equally happy cruising deserted islands or racing round the cans.

Anna has sailed both yachts and dinghies all her life, growing up on the Hamble River and gaining an RYA dinghy instructors qualification at the age of 18. She is an RYA/MCA commercially endorsed Ocean Yachtmaster and has several thousand yachting miles under her belt, with her first Atlantic crossing in 2004. She inherited a love of cooking from her mother and has a culinary repertoire spanning the globe, with an emphasis on using fresh, local ingredients.

Bones has a passion for imparting his love of sailing to people of all ages. He ran a training centre for many years teaching sail and power and has a natural talent for entertaining children. Having maintained his own boats from an early age and with a background in aviation, Bones turned his hand to successfully running his own boat repair business. This has ensured Emily Morgan's' recent refit was to an exceptionally high standard.
