Crew Profile

Captain: John Deck II

John "Johnny" Deck has over 15 years experience in the maritime industry; his passion for the water started at a very young age which included sport fishing and scuba diving, and evolved into a 4 year tour of duty as a boatswain's mate in the U.S. Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard he served on board a 180' buoy tender out of Kodiak, AK and a 225' Buoy tender out of Atlantic Beach, NC. Both ships serviced aids to navigation, conducted search and rescue, and law enforcement operations. In 2004 while attending Southwestern FL College in Fort Myers, he also worked at Marine Max as a Corporate Captain, conducting new boat orientations, and leading cruise club trips all over Florida, the Bahamas and Caribbean.

Johnny's been in the private and charter sector for a number of years with charter experience in the Bahamas, New England and the Caribbean. Johnny's great attitude and maritime background ensures a safe and pleasurable trip for his guests.

Chef/Stew: Jessica Hurley

Jessica is from beautiful Michigan, and started out her career in the hospitality service industry at a very young age. Jessica worked 4 years in a Country Club in Eastern Michigan where she learned the service industry in the front of the house, and she discovered she enjoyed and felt the most comfortable in the kitchen learning how to make fresh healthy cuisine from the head chef. Jessica discovered the yachting industry with her love for traveling it brought her to the Caribbean where she hopped on term charter Catamarans and she got her initial experience as a deckhand and chef. After a year of extensive charters in the Caribbean she was hooked and strived to get on a bigger motor yacht. Jessica joined Grand Cru in the fall of 2016 as the deckhand but her ultimate goal was to work in the galley, she took over as the cook stew onboard and has worked in the galley training and working on her skills since January 2017. Jessica finds a bliss in making meals and serving guest while onboard, and her specialty is fresh local seafood with local herbs and spices. Her love for food and flavor makes a great combination in the kitchen. With 11+ years in the service industry she can make a mean margarita and a dangerous bushwhacker. With an outgoing and vivacious personality she guarantees a wonderful charter experience for her guest onboard Grand Cru.
