Crew Profile

Captain Dimas was born in Venezuela and comes from a family of sailors, as his father was a Chief Engineer on a Cargo vessel. At the early age of 12, Dimas did his first ever Trans-Atlantic crossing from Venezuela to Spain, and that experience inspired him to work at sea. At age 17, Dimas joined the Maritime Academy ‘Escuela Nautica de Venezuela’, and he earned his first license in 1996.

On April 8th, 1997 (his birthday), Dimas started his tenure as a Navigation Officer on a Cargo vessel. The following year he joined the fleet of tall ships from Windjammer Barefoot Cruises where he gained his sailing experience on a 4 mast square rigged schooner named Fantome. In 2002, he joined the cruise industry, and since then, he has sailed across the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Europe, Alaska, Canada, South America, Asia and more.

In 2016, he decided to join the yachting industry where he has been able to share his experience and enhance his skills.

Presently, Dimas lives in Panama, where he enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his wife Carol and their two lovely children, Dylan and Mia.

Dimas welcomes you on-board the beautiful Manutara and wishes you a very enjoyable journey.
