Crew Profile

Bryan Roach & Ava Kovach

Captain, Bryan Roach and Mate, Ava Kovach, invite you to join them aboard Port to Vino. They bring upbeat personalities, youthful enthusiasm and a great skill set to charm and entertain their guests.

Captain Bryan is a New Englander who got his start sailing on Block Island, Rhode Island. He holds a USCG 100 Ton Masters license and is a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in Political Science. The son of a professional chef, Bryan has worked in the restaurant business along side top chefs and is as passionate about cooking a she is about sailing. Bryan is an experienced fisherman, and a PADI Divemaster, who loves sharing his knowledge of the ocean with guests.

With his easy smile, air of professional competence, and sense of fun and adventure, Bryan always gets rave reviews from his charter guests. Entering into his fifth season in the BVI, he is familiar with all the local highlights, but can also direct you to those quieter anchorages and hidden gems the BVI has to offer.

Ava, a Texas A&M graduate (BS in Maritime Administration), is an experienced ocean sailor with over 6,000 offshore miles including an Atlantic crossing and time in the Caribbean. She is also an accomplished dinghy racer and was co-captain of the Texas A&M varsity sailing team. Ava has experience as a deckhand and stewardess on a 90 foot motor yacht in the Mediterranean and has worked as a bartender at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas where she learned to whip up classic, top shelf libations. Avas passion for food also led her to train at The Kitchens at Onion Creek, Juniper Hills Farm in the Texas Hill Country.

Ava and Bryan enchant everyone they meet, and are sure to delight their guests aboard Port to Vino!
