Crew Profile

Roger Conradie:
Growing up on the east coast of South Africa, Roger's first true love was the ocean. He began working as a lifeguard at the age of 15. After finishing high school, Roger went to work for the RNLI life guard division in England, which resulted in a month trip to Indonesia. completed my coastal skipper's license and worked as a deckhand on a 45' catamaran doing charters off the coast of Mozambique. The travel bug had bitten and Roger was hooked!

In 2009 Roger caught a plane to New York City to join a 115' sloop heading for the Caribbean and has been working on yachts ever since. He returned home to Durban, South Africa in 2011 to complete his 200 ton Master of Yachts license. Shortly after getting his skipper's ticket, he joined a 29' catamaran and sailed it from Cape Town South Africa to Baja Mexico, transiting the South Atlantic Ocean, the equator and the Panama Canal and many time zones.

Ashley Conradie:
Ashley has always been an ocean-minded person and is very passionate about restoring the health of our planet's waters. Growing up in Cocoa Beach, Florida, you can imagine her life revolved around fishing, boating, surfing - anything involving the water. Ashley's grandmother owned a restaurant when she was younger, which inspired her to cook with locally grown fruits and vegetables and fresh seafood. Healthy living and organic ingredients are the basis of my cuisine.

Ashley admits that discovering the yachting industry is one of the greatest things to ever happen to her. As an enthusiastic chef, Ashley has found a career that encompasses all of her passions. She enjoys creating beautiful and delicious food to please a variety of palates. Ashley explains she has a fever for sailing and marvel at being able to harness nature's elements to travel across the seas powered by the wind alone.

With four years working as a professional yacht crew with her fiancé, Roger, Ashley has fallen more in love with both as time goes on. Ashley and Roger welcome you aboard with pleasure and are delighted you have chosen to sail with them on SIRONA!
