Crew Profile

Captain - Jared:
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Jared is the youngest of four siblings He has been taking sailing vacations with his family in the Pamlico Sound, Caribbean and Mediterranean since he was 12 years old. Jared played lots of sports, traveled with a select soccer team and also worked as a camp counselor during the summers at a YMCA kids camp, Camp Kanata. After school at Appalachian State, he thought a change of climate might be nice and has lived in the Virgin Islands off and on for the past six years, making short stops in New York City and London to pursue his culinary and musical careers.

Jared crewed aboard multiple 62 ft. Day-Sail catamarans in the Caribbean as a mate and bartender and then was asked to step aboard Bella Vita as mate/chef. Working in the industry for three season he developed a desire to captain his own vessel. Jared has his 100 Ton Masters and Sailing Endorsement, STCW, CPR certification and is an Advanced Open Water Diver.

Jared will share tales of history and lore of the sea, and will keep guests laughing while serving them his famous ( or infamous) Trouble in a Cup. When not chartering, Jared can be found at the local Tap and Still Restaurant in Red Hook, playing acoustic guitar or mixing it up a little and DJ-ing.
